For those of us lucky enough to live in Bali, we all know the Bukit (or cliff) has one advantage over all other destinations here – Views.
Very simply, I have yet to see better vista – anywhere in the world. Couple that with a breath-taking luxury Bali villa AND a leisurely stroll to (it must be said) the best beaches on the island – and you have an experience you’re going to remember – Forever. Even better when shared.
Think white powdery sands, crystal clear turquoise waters and secret beaches. And then there’s the sunsets – Very difficult to describe how truly stunning they are. Especially from the cliff tops – or from the beaches of the seafood restaurants in Jimbaran.
We’ll leave you to find the sunset – but here’s four beaches we’d strongly recommend that you try – They’re certainly our favourites.
Padang Padang Beach
Soft white powdery sand
Crystal clean (and safe) water
Small local warungs to grab food and drinks
Eat, Pray, Love (Julia Roberts) – movie location
Widely known as one of the world’s best surf spots
Location: Unggasan Village
Pandawa Beach (Or Secret Beach)
Peaceful and quiet – especially before lunchtime
Rent your own loungers for US$5
Concealed behind limestone cliffs and countryside
Follow 5 huge statues carved into the cliffs
Beautiful location to enjoy the sunset and cliff views
Location: Jalan Nusa Dua, Kuta Selatan, Badung
Long golden sands

Waves ideal for small board and body surfers
Accessible via the Grand Hyatt – Nusa Dua Road
Location: Nusa Dua
Without doubt one of Bali’s best surf spots
Quiet and laid back
Backdrop of spectacular white limestone cliffs
Staircase down to the beach
Chairs and umbrellas available to rent
Warungs serve fresh food and ice-cold beers
Location: Balangan – Jimbaran Bay
Finn’s Beach Club
In our view, one of the best
Private beach – with white sand and crystal clear water
Dramatic limestone cliffs
Amazing cliff-top views
Cable car down to the beach
Superb beachside restaurant and bar
Minimum spend of IDR250,000 for visitors – but worth every penny
Free for children under 12
Stay until evening – and try cooked marshmallows around the camp fires
The hardest part will be choosing – And choosing your villa. We’ve had guests put villa names into a straw sun hat before now – usually after a glass or two. So if you do the same, do send us some pics 😉 And we’ll welcome you on the Bukit – then leave you to enjoy it until your heart’s content.
BTW, the looking forward to it is also the good bit – Enjoy every second. And if you think there’s any bits we’ve missed or you know something we don’t – please feel free to share with us.
Sincere Thanks – And My Best Wishes
