Creative ripples span out from the vintage plantation house which was lovingly rescued and transported the many precarious miles by road and sea until it reached this island to be restored by the expert hands here. The villa is entered through a sea-worn gate which was kissed by a thousand waves before being salvaged from a ship wreck and styled into this spectacular contemporary entrance. This is the kind of unique and ingenious methodology and bespoke attention to detail which sets this property’s story streaks ahead of the rest.
The gate takes you directly into the garden and swimming pool area which seamlessly incorporates a vast, contemporary terrace-style living space. This comprises of a selection of retro seating areas, an elegant formal dining table with seating for 10, a show kitchen and a separate enclosed working kitchen to the rear. This slick uber-modern zone effortlessly blends patterns and textures taken from the Kalimantan plantation house’s rich embellishments into the flooring and fabrics used, creating a striking aesthetic flow. Here is the perfect spot to sample the series of stunning set menus created by the chef including sumptuous delights such as roast chicken with saffron and lemon accompanied by a feta oregano salad and all the trimmings.
Glossy and beautiful this house may be but it doesn’t take itself too seriously either and touches like the kid’s sandpit show it’s a functional work of art meant for pleasure, relaxation and enjoyment. And for the adults there is a large wellness and spa area on the ground floor at the rear of the antique house.
Further to this, the impressive colonial house provides accommodation which is spread over 3 floors and comprises of 3 sophisticated king size bedrooms, a further king size loft room and an 8 bedded bunk room for the children. There is also a fully air-conditioned formal, enclosed TV and sitting room on the first floor.
