The East Residence is tucked away in the delightful and picturesque enclave of Canggu along the southwest coastline. It’s approximately 45-minutes drive from the airport, 20-minutes up the coast from Seminyak and 10-minutes along from Umalas.
It’s a stunning 5-bedroom property, surrounded by endless lush green paddy fields, with local rural villages dotted across the landscape.
The villa has its own spa, as well as a fully trained team of discreet staff who will cater to your every need during your stay. The décor is a mix of local Indonesian features alongside western comforts, infused with Balinese treasures and artifacts. The focal point has to be a 20-meter infinity pool, which has the appearance of dropping away to a spectacular rainforest and waterfall.
Amongst its Zen-influenced tropical gardens, you’ll have plenty of areas to relax in total peace and tranquility. And although you’ll have the impression of being a million miles from anywhere, the more popular tourist spots of Seminyak, Umalas and Ubud are just a short drive way.
It’s clear to see that East Residence has been carefully thought through in terms of architecture, design and interior. Natural materials are used wherever possible, such as granite and mahogany. And framed Sulawesi warrior jackets are just one of the many Indonesian treasures featured on the walls. A carved Balinese chaise longue makes for an exquisite piece of furniture under the porch.
Upon entering the property you’ll certainly notice an attention to detail. Frangipanis and other traditional flowers are a welcoming sight in each bedroom. And the owners love of travel is evident with Buddhist statues and African chairs being placed around the garden.
The residence is set within a two-acre plot of land so there is a sense of space and sanctuary. And you really will be spoilt in terms of areas to hide, relax and rejuvenate.
All five en-suite bathrooms have balconies so, again, plenty of spots to appreciate what is a spectacular setting. The detached rainforest cottage also boasts a jungle-style outdoor bathroom.
Just beyond the infinity pool the garden is dissected by a small stream that edges towards a waterfall. The sounds of running water are yet another bonus. Through the manicured lawns, trees and exotic fauna, the gardens reveal an open-air lounge pavilion, three thatched bales and that private spa.
Built in 2008 and used primarily for guest rentals, this cherished family home will extend a fond and heartfelt welcome to anyone who has the pleasure of staying in it.
There are four bedrooms in the main building, including the master bedroom. Each has equal space and privacy. A fifth bedroom is located in the rainforest cottage. All five have AC, king size beds and fine white cotton bedding. Bathrooms include glass cubicle showers, traditional Indonesian features and a bamboo and grass roof ceiling. The villa sleeps a total of 10 guests and we can always provide baby cots. Two extra beds are available at extra charge.
First-floor master bedroom
The largest of the first floor rooms is the master bedrooms that boasts a large bathroom with sunken bathtub and separate his and her sinks. There’s also a 52-inch TV and DVD player.
First-floor guest bedrooms
The three bedrooms on the first floor are similar in size and décor and have their own balconies with outdoor furniture. On a clear day from here you’ll see Mount Agung, Bali’s largest volcano. Bedroom number three offers the best view of the rice paddy fields, sunsets and sunrises.
Rain forest Cottage
This adorable one-bedroom lodge, beside the River Subak, is a beautiful romantic spot, surrounded by natural wildlife. The porch features an antique African chaise longue, whilst a second porch offers another table and chairs. Inside you’ll have your own 39-inch plasma TC with DVD player, as well as a selection of DVDs.
Open to the elements, the bathroom has a stand-alone bathtub and glass cubicle shower. Obstructed only slightly by a curtain of banana plants, you’ll be able to appreciate the rainforest view as well as the sounds of the running water at bath time.
Living, dining & kitchens
Upon entering through traditional-styled hand crafted doors, the living and dining areas are an expansive oblong-shaped informal space. White curtains allow in plenty of natural light whilst a large sofa is the perfect spot to survey the garden and pool. Ceiling fans help to keep room temperature comfortable.
