Ombak Laut is one of the most sought after luxury Bali villas on the island. The property enjoys the most spectacular ocean views with glistening sands and a rocky outcrop in the foreground. Beautifully manicured tropical gardens feature not one but two private swimming pools, tennis courts, a traditional Balinese bale, the main living pavilions with 6-bedroom suites plus discreet and friendly fully trained villa staff.
Perched high above the beach, close to the Balinese village of Cemagi, on Bali’s southwest coastline, the property includes one hectare of prime beachfront land. It really is one of the most luxurious holiday homes and an ideal retreat for families or a large group of friends.
With the additional bonus of the finest sunsets on the planet and cascading rice terraces, you’ll also have the relaxing sounds of crashing waves. And with a glimpse of traditional Balinese village life, this Bali villa rental really does offer a unique holiday experience – and one we are sure you and your loved ones will never forget.
Ombak laut literally translates as ‘ocean wave’ and this could not be a more fitting description for one of the finest properties in our portfolio. You’ll have 100-meters of beach frontage with one of Bali’s most famous temples visible from the beach front.
Deliberately designed and developed to catch those sea breezes and fabulous views, this luxury Bali villa’s living and sleeping pavilions have high-vaulted ceilings and traditional thatched roofs. An antique Javanese gladak (or wooden house) makes up the sixth bedroom suite, which adds a certain unique charm to this property.
Constructed originally as the owner’s family home, this villa rental is undeniably comfortable so you will certainly be made to feel welcome. It’s also child friendly and ideal for any age group, whether young or slightly older. If relaxing by either of the two pools becomes a little tedious then the private tennis await. A games room provides a billiard table and table tennis and then you have the options of bicycles to roam the surrounding rice fields and villages.
One of the most noticeable aspects of the entire residence is the sheer size. Upon entering you’ll see towering coconut palms swaying in the sea breeze and manicured lawns rolling towards the ocean. From the bale you’ll see first hand the miles and miles of dramatic coastline, interrupted only by the Pura Gede Luhu Batungaus temple that is situated just offshore.
As part of a truly 5-star service, you’ll have an experienced and fully trained chef who will be happy to prepare anything from romantic candle-lit dinners to lavish dinner parties. Housekeepers and gardeners never cease to keep the interiors and exteriors spotlessly clean and tidy. And there’s a car and driver waiting should you want to tear yourself away from this luxury villa rental. You will enter the property via traditional Balinese doors and a palimanan stone staircase leading towards a fishpond. At this point the actual villa and grounds are visible, with those spectacular views just beyond.
To the rear, two guest suites are situated below the games room. Two additional suites are either side of the stepping stone pathway, which look out towards the 18-meter infinity pool, the garden, beach and ocean. The dining room is adjacent to the living pavilion and linked to the kitchen via a covered walkway. The master suite is housed in the two-storey building. The tennis court, guest house and second pool are all situated furthest from the main pavilion.
This pavilion is split across three levels. The actual suite is located upstairs and comes with an incredibly large king-size four-poster bed, draped in fine white mosquito netting. Warm teak flooring, a traditional thatched roof as well as your own private balcony ensure this suite is one of the most romantic. A half-landing area links to the master suite via a timber staircase and here you have a large circular Jacuzzi within a garden courtyard. A twin vanity and open-air rain shower add to overall spa-like effect. Just below the suite is a comfortable study area with a 27-inch TV, a Bose sound system, a piano and a sofa. Games, DVD’s and books complete a lovely secluded spot, perfect for a well-deserved break from the pool.
To the rear of the master suite and the living and dining areas are two guest pavilions. Both have timber flooring with brightly contrasting ceramic murals. Both suites also have king-size four-poster beds with mosquito netting, ceiling fans and en-suites with bathtubs and open-air showers. A patio area lies to the front of each suite with a daybed and wicker chairs.
The two bedrooms underneath the games room are perfect for the kids or additional friends. Both have a slightly more modern feel with cool, terrazzo flooring and bright splashes of abstract art. And both are furnished with twin beds, one of which is a four-poster. Glass sliding doors open out onto the garden and semi-outdoor bathrooms are fitted with a bathtub and open-air shower. Additional trundle beds provide an extra sleeping option for the children in one of the rooms.
Gladak guest house
The guest house is a beautiful touch to what is already a wonderful property. It’s an ideal spot for people who want that extra seclusion and privacy. Facing towards the tennis courts, this traditional Javanese construction has the feel of an old tennis clubhouse. You’ll even be able to enjoy a chilled glass or two of squash on the veranda or something a little stronger. And there’s even an old pressed tennis racquet ornament on one of the side walls. Built entirely from timber, it’s a one-bedroom, fully air-conditioned guest room with a four-poster bed, draped with fine white netting. A sofa, chairs, a daybed with a trundle and an en-suite bathroom with terrazzo bathtub and rain shower all add to make the gladak an extra special treat.
The hub of this luxury Bali villa is the open-sided pavilion with its high-vaulted thatched roof. Cooled by ceiling fans as well as a fresh sea breeze, it’s the perfect place for having a family chat or catching up with close friends whilst admiring those spectacular views.
Next to the living area is the dining room with its solid teak table and 12 chairs. Glass doors on all four sides can be left open or closed and you’ll have a brass gong at one end of the room to summon your group to the table. A square, fully equipped kitchen sits just behind the dining room and features a sleek, black granite worktop, stainless steel appliances, a wine cooler and coffee machine. The games room is situated to the rear of the residence where you’ll have beautiful views over cascading rice fields. A billiard table, a 43-inch satellite TV with Bose CD and DVD players and an iPod docking station will ensure nobody gets bored.
Renowned for its spectacular setting, this luxury beachfront villa is one of the largest on the island. Professionally landscaped, gardens encircle the property with carpet lawns, tropical foliage and flowers. At night, traditional Javanese lamp boxes light up the corners of the residence. And carved limestone murals with painted stone Sumba horses add to a unique holiday experience.
The 18-meter infinity pool comes with green sun loungers and umbrellas. Coconut palms add a little more shade. To one side of the pool is a lily pond and an outdoor dining area that seats 10 guests. It’s the perfect spot for a BBQ at sundown.
The traditional Balinese bale is accessed via a bridge and a stone pathway that leads to a grassed area, surrounding the bale. Here, you can fully admire the ocean as its waves pound the black rocks.
Villa Ombak Laut is, without doubt, one of the most luxurious and largest residencies within our portfolio. As secluded as the villa is, you will be within a short drive to the island’s other attractions. And no visit to Bali would be complete without sampling some of the island’s popular restaurants, cafes and bars. Kudeta is perhaps the most well known, with its fantastic views of sunset. Matise, Sardine, Ultimo and Potato Head all offer a unique experience and food, not forgetting the ambience.
