The luxury Bali villa of Shamira is an extremely laid back and comfortable 5-bedroom holiday home, situated in the sleepy, semi-rural district of Canggu, along Bali’s southwest coastline. Beautifully decorated, with exquisite furnishings, this luxury Bali rental is perfect for large families with children or a close group of friends, seeking a secluded hideaway, set within tropical gardens and surrounded by cascading rice terraces.
You’ll have a 12-meter private swimming pool as well as a selection of indoor and outdoor living and dining areas. A warm and professionally trained team of villa staff will welcome you upon your arrival and tender to anything you need during your stay. Each member of staff is discreet and quiet and focused, ensuring your holiday expectations are fulfilled in every possible way. Villa Shamira is just a ten-minute stroll from Canggu beach. It’s a popular spot with surfers as the waves break some 50-meters from the beach. Echo beach is also a popular restaurant and renowned for one of the finest BBQ’s, arranged just before sunset. And other smaller cafes and bars, plus boutique fashion shops are close by.
Seminyak, the island’s tourist hub, is around 20-30-minutes drive away and features some of the best beachfront restaurants, including Kudeta, Potato Head and The Legian Hotel. The W-hotel offers several dining experiences and three fabulous beachfront bars within a unique setting. And Metis and Sardine offer lunch and dinner within two of the most serene ambiences.
Canggu, itself, is a rural, peaceful community. You’ll experience local, traditional village life combined with the sheer elegance of your own holiday home. Indeed, Shamira represents more of a family residence and offers a private and peaceful home away from home. Books line the shelves and photos populate the walls of this much-loved unique property. Several dining areas, a hidden patio and a poolside bale (gazebo) are just some of the treats on offer, whilst the villa has been created with a distinct western architectural feel. It’s the perfect setting for socializing and entertaining (and lounging) in luxurious style.
This luxury Bali villa comprises three, yellow-hued buildings. Local materials such as teak, distressed timber, marble and palimanan stone are prominent throughout. The ground floor of the main building includes a large, open-sided living and dining space, a TV room, a kitchen and a bathroom whilst the upper level has three of the five bedrooms as well as an outdoor dining patio, accessed from a teak stairwell.
Over to the left of the main building stands the single-story detached wing. Accessed via a garden patio, it contains bedroom number four that is aptly named, the garden room. A separate staircase will lead you from the living area to the fifth bedroom, known as the Lumbung room. Please note, this suite comes without an en-suite, but nevertheless is a beautiful room with a curved roof.
Shamira’s four main suites have been created with an eye for detail and it’s very apparent that the property’s owners care about the villa’s overall look and feel – as well as their guests’ experiences. All suites are air-conditioned and furnished with king-size beds and soft white mosquito drapes. Crisp linens and plump pillows will guarantee a good night’s sleep.
Resembling a romantic boudoir within a French chateau, the master suite comprises of seating areas-come bedroom, including teak flooring, a walk-in wardrobe space and wrought iron four-poster bed and matching baby cot. A large flat TV screen and a DVD player can be enjoyed from the bed or from the suede sofas and armchair. An en-suite houses a vanity area and free standing bathtub, whilst doors lead to a private patio with rattan furniture and overhanging bougainvillea and potted plants.
Bedrooms two and three
Bedrooms three and four take on a distinctly ‘English country cottage’ theme. Purple-hued walls will take you through a cozy landing, whilst both suites share a smaller bathroom with shower.
The Garden room – fourth suite
Neatly surrounded by leafy foliage, this glassed-encased suite comes with distressed wood floors and this bright and airy room definitely has more of an Asian feel. Doors at the far end of the building take you onto a pool decking, whilst doors at the front lead onto a stone patio with a table and four chairs.
The Lumbung room resembles a traditional Balinese rice barn, with wooden floors, a high ceiling and narrow entrance. Here, you’ll have a beautifully created balcony overlooking the pool and furnished with a vintage rocking chair and armchair. The suite comes without the luxury of an en-suite but you will have a fabulous tropical bathroom next to the living and dining room. Built from traditional palimanan stone, the semi-open bathroom includes a sunken stone bathtub, plus an open-air tropical rain shower.
Living, dining, kitchen and TV room
An open-sided living and dining area is cooled naturally by sea breezes although full air-conditioning and ceiling fans will keep the space comfortably chilled. Foliage surrounds the perimeter of the building whilst local antiques and art are carefully arranged throughout, alongside those tasteful photographs and variety of books.
Towards the pool, a marble floored dining area takes on a boathouse effect with low white washed timber frames. And a dining table will easily accommodate 10 guests. Blue and white cushions sit upon the daybed and traditional seating upon a raised platform provides the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks. Two further dining tables and daybeds make up the rest of this dining area whilst at the far end you have an expansive glass-encased, air-conditioned TV room, complete with a 40-inch flat-screen TV and DVD player. A CD player and iPod dock pipe music through several speakers that you’ll hear from the pool. A modern kitchen, fully fitted with white wood cabinets is situated just off from the living and dining rooms.
Garden, pool & balé
A 6 x 12-meter private pool is the focal point of a beautiful tropical garden. A slightly submerged ledge is ideal for sunset drinks whilst a large stone decking area has five rattan loungers. Four additional rattan ‘pod’ chairs, together with a large table, are illuminated at night by a traditional spherical lantern.
At the opposite end of the garden stands a Balinese bale. Comfy cushions provide the most peaceful spot for catching up with a good book or taking a well-earned mid afternoon nap. Stone steps are dotted throughout the lawns from which you can admire local flora and tall banana palms and a combination of bamboo and stone securely encircle a quant garden area. Villa Shamira really does offer one of the most intimate, cottage-styled properties, whilst at the same time providing an endless array of secluded and private spaces to recoup and relax. With a whole host of activities to choose from close by you and your loved ones will have the best of both worlds.
